THE NY TIMES IS BLOWING SMOKE: TOOTHPASTE POISONS MORE

I found this opinion piece over at Digital Trends.  I thought it required some attention.  Who better to give it some?   Some people are saying the NY times article sets the stage for the FDA’s deeming regulations.

SIDE NOTE: Greg Conley formerly with CASAA — told me at Vapefest DC  that the FDA has already come out with their deeming regulations but the congressional over-site kicked it back to them and told them to make it less restrictive.  This is whats been taking so long.  What does that mean?  We will have Greg on Mod Envy to explain.

THE HARD COPY:

The rising instances of e-liquid poisoning are absolutely a problem,
simply because more poisonings are always worse than fewer, obviously.
But what the Times does not report – or buries – tells a different
story: E-liquid makes up only a small percentage of the substances that
poison people each year.

According to the NPDS’s annual report from 2012 (PDF)
– the most recent publicly available report – 193,443 poisoning cases
involved household cleaning agents, 54,445 involved alcoholic beverages,
11,848 were caused by pens or other ink, and 20,306 were caused by toothpaste.
